POSITION OVERVIEW

Headquartered in Pompano Beach, FL, we are seeking a Project Accountant for Construction & Development to support the financial and accounting operations of our growing development company. This role will focus on day-to-day bookkeeping, construction accounting, AIA billing, invoice processing, job costing, and financial tracking across multiple active construction projects and new club developments.

The ideal candidate has hands-on construction accounting experience, understands how to manage project financials from initial commitments through final payment, and can maintain accurate books and records while keeping projects organized and financially accountable.

You will work closely with the Development, Construction, Project Management, and Finance teams to ensure expenses are accurately recorded, payments are processed timely, project budgets remain current, and financial reporting supports informed decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities for the development company and assigned construction projects.
  • Process, review, code, and record vendor invoices, subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and construction-related expenses.
  • Prepare, review, and process AIA billing documents, including Applications for Payment and continuation sheets, as applicable.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor payment applications for accuracy, supporting documentation, approved change orders, retainage, and contract compliance.
  • Track accounts payable, accounts receivable, payment schedules, retainage, deposits, and outstanding invoices across multiple projects.
  • Track construction budgets, contracts, change orders, and remaining project costs.
  • Maintain project financial trackers and provide regular updates on committed costs, invoiced costs, payments, and remaining budget.
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting, bank and account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and month-end close.
  • Monitor vendor payment schedules and coordinate with project managers and contractors to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Assist with cash flow tracking, construction cost forecasting, and work-in-progress reporting as needed.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure project expenses, approvals, and financial records are complete and up to date.
  • Support year-end close, audits, and other accounting requests as needed.
  • Help establish standardized bookkeeping procedures, construction accounting workflows, and financial reporting processes as the development company grows.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in construction accounting, bookkeeping, or project accounting.
  • Experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Understanding of job costing, project budgets, AIA billing, retainage, and change orders.
  • Experience managing financial records across multiple construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, lien waivers, and payment applications.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, Procore, or similar accounting/construction software.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Accounting or Finance degree preferred but not required.
  • General contractor or commercial development experience is a plus.

WHY JOIN US?

  • Play a direct role in supporting the financial operations and national expansion of one of the fastest-growing fitness brands in the country.
  • Gain exposure to new club development, construction accounting, and multi-project financial management.
  • Work closely with Development, Construction, and Finance leadership.
  • Help build scalable accounting processes and systems as the company grows.
  • Location: Pompano Beach, FL (full-time, in-office required).
