Position Summary

Edmik is seeking a skilled, dependable Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position involves setting up and operating machining equipment to produce high-quality, precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

The ideal candidate has strong machining fundamentals, takes pride in producing accurate parts, and can work independently while contributing to a team-focused shop environment. We are looking for someone who understands machining processes, pays attention to detail, and enjoys solving problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Prototrak or grinding equipment to manufacture precision components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.
• Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding equipment.
• Determine proper machining methods, cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling requirements.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Use micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Make necessary tooling, offset, and machining adjustments to maintain quality and tolerances.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and part quality.
• Work with programmers, setup technicians, inspection personnel, and management to resolve manufacturing challenges.
• Maintain equipment, tooling, and a clean, safe, organized work area.
• Follow established quality procedures, shop standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual machine tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T, and understand technical or manufacturing-related information.
• Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, cutting tools, workholding, speeds, and feeds.
• Experience producing parts to close tolerances.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
• Ability to perform basic shop math and machining calculations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and consistently produce quality work.
• Dependable attendance and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CNC milling and turning.
• Experience with manual mills, lathes, or surface grinders.
• Familiarity with ProtoTRAK controls.
• Experience working in a job shop or high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot setups, tooling issues, and dimensional problems.
• Experience machining a variety of metals and materials.
• Familiarity with JobBOSS manufacturing software is a plus, but not required.
