Job Description
Grind Machinist in Gardena, CA — $25.00–$35.00/hr DOE, 2nd shift, contract-to-hire. Perform precision grinding to meet aerospace dimensions and surface finishes.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The finish and dimensions have to match the print, whether you are on a manual grinder or CNC equipment.
Operate manual, CNC, and automated grinding equipment to make parts to engineering drawings and customer specifications. Depending on your experience, work can include setup, wheel dressing, inspection, and troubleshooting complex geometries.
Training and supervision depend on demonstrated grinding knowledge. This is production work that combines machine operation, dimensional checks, and job handoffs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Verify parts and prior operations against shop travelers
- Read blueprints, GD&T, drawings, and work instructions
- Set up and operate manual, CNC, or automated grinders
- Grind parts to dimensional and surface-finish specifications
- Change and dress wheels and adjust tooling based on experience
- Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and comparators
- Troubleshoot grinding defects and machine-performance issues
- Document production status and coordinate incoming and outgoing jobs
WHAT YOU NEED
- Ability to read blueprints, travelers, and work instructions
- Knowledge of grinding operations and machining processes
- Familiarity with CNC, manual, or automated manufacturing equipment
- Experience using precision measurement and inspection tools
- Understanding of dimensional tolerances and production quality
- Mechanical troubleshooting ability
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
NICE TO HAVE
- Grinding experience in manufacturing or aerospace
- CNC grinding, wheel dressing, or complex geometry experience
- Experience with OD, ID, centerless, or surface grinders
- High school diploma or GED

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Handle parts and tooling, perform setup and wheel adjustments appropriate to experience, and use precision measuring tools while safely accessing grinding machinery.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Precision manufacturing floor with manual, CNC, and automated grinding equipment. PPE is required and provided, and all plant safety procedures apply.
